The Bocanada Mezcal is a blend of Espadín and Cuishe agaves, which are characteristic of the central valleys of Oaxaca and offer unique flavors to this product. The agaves used are free from chemical pesticides and herbicides. The Espadín reaches maturity in 6-8 years, the Cuishe in 12-14 years.
In Spanish, a bocanada is a quantity of air that is inhaled or exhaled. This mezcal was given the name Bocanada because life begins with the first breath.
La vida empieza con una Bocanada… Life begins with a Bocanada…
The project to create Bocanada was born with the intention of giving Mezcal the well-deserved recognition as one of the finest distillates in the world. The blend of 50% Espadín (Agave Angustifolia) and 50% Cuishe (Agave Karwinskii) was created because they are the most characteristic agaves of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca. Cuishe agaves are widespread in Oaxaca and are even used as fences to delimit properties. If you walk through the countryside around Hacienda Carreño, you will find several specimens of this species. The Espadín Agave is cultivated at Hacienda Carreño. The citrus flavors of the Espadín and the taste of wood and roots of the Cuishes result in a spectacularly balanced creation. Due to the triple distillation, you have a smooth feeling on the palate.
